We may spend a lot of time debating whether we want to order pizza or Indian food on family dinner night, but we probably never imagined combining the two into one delicious dish. But when that marriage of flavors happens, the result is pretty exciting. The Curry Pizza House is a pizza place like none we’ve seen before, which takes the classic pizza and pairs it with wildly unexpected but delicious ingredients like yellow curry and white garlic sauce.
It’s basically a marriage of the spicy and savory flavors of traditional Indian cuisine and a classic slice of New York-style cheesy delicious pizza. With menu items that include options like the Curry Chicken Masala Pizza, made with curry sauce, bell peppers, red onions, cilantro, and diced masala chicken; the Butter Chicken Pizza, made with shahi sauce, diced tomatoes, red onions and diced butter chicken, and the Palak Paneer Pizza, made with homemade pesto, cheese, spinach, red onions, masala paneer, green chilies, ginger and garlic, it’s unexpected but also increasingly enticing. For any couple that ever had that aforementioned argument of whether to order Indian food or pizza for dinner, this may be the compromise they were waiting for.
“Curry Pizza House is a pizza chain that reflects the diversity of cultures in America. We seamlessly blend two beloved culinary concepts: Indian flavors and cooking techniques with pizza, creating an inviting menu with broad appeal,” said Aman Kahlon, serial entrepreneur and franchise owner of Curry Pizza House Las Vegas, in an interview. “All of the things you love about Indian cuisine – the spice blends, curries, and delicious vegetarian options are combined with all of the things you love about pizza – the crisp crust, the pile of toppings, the melty cheese, and the fun of sharing a single pie among a group of friends or family,” said Kahlon.
The origin of this marriage of flavors comes from the chain’s founder, Gursewak Gill’s own experience. “He emigrated to the US from India and fell in love with American pizza. Friday nights became pizza nights for his family. Yet he never lost his love for the bold, zesty and vibrant foods he grew up eating in Punjab in northern India. One evening he made a pizza topped with his mom’s curry from a family recipe. The combination of flavors was irresistible and that’s when the idea for Curry Pizza House was born,” said Kahlon.
The entire menu reflects this taste adventure. “I love to start with Baked Masala Chips which are like the most delicious thick-cut potato chips you’ve ever tried, super flavorful with masala spices. The Desi Sticks are a unique and irresistible offering – think of a marriage of breadstick and pizza, topped with a blend of pesto, cheese, chilis and onion. My favorite pizza is the Butter Chicken – I’m a purist and love having this classic food on a pizza! And I usually can’t resist a mango lassi,” said Kahlon.
There’s also the option to customize pizzas, creating whatever combo of sauces or toppings you want, whether it’s traditional like black olives or more out of the box, say with marinated gobhi. There’s also pepperoni, cheese and veggie pizzas available, though, for your date who maybe isn’t ready to take that leap quite yet.
While Curry Pizza House already has locations in California, Texas, Oregon and Washington, this is their first Las Vegas location.
“Las Vegas’ spirit of innovation, diverse audience and appetite for unique culinary experiences aligns seamlessly with the vision of Curry Pizza House, making it the perfect destination,” said Kahlon, reflecting on the city being known for its willingness to embrace the unconventional. “Curry Pizza House’s blend of flavorful Indian spices with the classic favorite pizza is a testament to the daring and diverse tastes found in Las Vegas. Las Vegas is a melting pot of cultures,” said Kahlon.
It’s also a location prime for this sort of spot. “What makes the Las Vegas location really special is its close proximity to the University of Nevada-Las Vegas, which is located across the street, just steps away from our front door,” said Kahlon. “ I strategically selected this specific location because of UNLV’s vibrant, diverse and multicultural community. The synergy between college students and pizza is undeniable, and our new Curry Pizza House in Las Vegas offers a fun and flavorful twist on this classic combination!” he said.
