Texas lands commitment from Class of 2026 5-star QB Dia Bell

Texas, a program stacked with elite quarterbacks, picked up a commitment on Monday from one of the best young arms in the country in Class of 2026 five-star prospect Dia Bell, the son of former NBA defensive standout Raja Bell.

The 6-foot-2, 195-pound rising junior at Plantation (Fla.) American Heritage is ranked as the No. 2 quarterback in his class in the 247Sports Composite. Bell recently camped at Florida State and Texas and chose the Longhorns over FSU, Louisville, Penn State, TCU and North Carolina, among others.

According to MaxPreps, Bell completed nearly 65 percent of his 189 pass attempts for 1,929 yards, 20 touchdowns and only four interceptions last season as a sophomore.

Texas currently has two former five-star quarterbacks on its roster — Arch Manning, the No. 1 player in the 2023 class, and Quinn Ewers, the No. 1 player in the Class of 2021 who signed with Ohio State before transferring home to play at Texas.

The Longhorns have four-star prospect KJ Lacey committed in their 2025 class and signed four-star Trey Owens in the 2024 cycle. Maalik Murphy, Texas’ 2022 quarterback signee, transferred to Duke after last season.

Five of the 22 blue-chip quarterbacks in the 2026 cycle have issued a commitment. In addition to Bell, they are five-star Jared Curtis (Georgia) and four-stars Will Griffin (Florida), Landon Duckworth (South Carolina) and Noah Grubbs (Notre Dame).
