Premier League player arrested on suspicion of voyeurism, no further action to be taken

A Premier League player was arrested at his training ground on suspicion of voyeurism.

The player was arrested in front of his team-mates with two phones taken as part of proceedings, according to a report in The Sun.

Police confirmed the arrest to The Athletic and a statement added: “It was determined that no further action would be taken due to lack of evidence.” The Athletic is aware of the identity of the player, who is in his 20s, but this cannot be reported due to legal reasons.

The player’s club have been approached for comment.

All Premier League players receive mandatory sexual consent training following a number of high-profile cases in recent years. For example, the former Manchester City defender Benjamin Mendy was charged and later cleared of multiple sexual assaults. Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood was arrested on suspicion of rape and assault in January 2022 before the case was dropped in February 2023.
