Nottingham Forest defender Harry Toffolo has been given a suspended five-month ban by the Football Association (FA) after admitting he breached betting rules 375 times.

The 28-year-old’s ban has been suspended until the 2024-25 season. He has also been fined £20,956, with the sanctions imposed by an independent regulatory commission following a hearing.

Toffolo admitted that he breached FA Rule E1 (b) on 375 occasions between January 22, 2014 and March 18, 2017.

The FA added that the written reasons for the decisions “will be published in due course”.

In July, the Football Association (FA) charged Toffolo with the breaches. He was at Norwich City from 2014 to 2018 but spent time on loan at Swindon Town, Rotherham United, Peterborough United and Scunthorpe United during that period.

Toffolo joined Forest in July 2022 following spells at Millwall, Lincoln City and Huddersfield Town and played 19 times in the Premier League last season. He has, however, only made two appearances in all competitions this campaign.

Ivan Toney was banned from football for eight months in May over 232 breaches of the FA’s betting rules.
