Matheus Cunha is set to agree a new four-and-a-half year contract at Wolverhampton Wanderers, ending speculation about his immediate future.
The Brazil international will sign an extension to his existing deal, which had two years left to run.
His new deal, until 2029, will include a release clause allowing other clubs to sign him for an agreed figure.
Cunha, who signed for Wolves two years ago and has emerged in the last 12 months as their key attacking player, has been linked with moves away this month with both Arsenal and Nottingham Forest showing an interest.
But the 25-year-old is now poised to put pen to paper on a new deal, which will remove any lingering fears that Wolves could lose him ahead of Monday’s transfer deadline.
Wolves have handed Cunha a significant wage increase as reward for his goals and assists during the reigns of Gary O’Neil and Vitor Pereira.
And the release clause will ensure he is free to leave should a higher-ranked club move for him in the summer or beyond while also protecting his value to Wolves.
Cunha has 25 goals in 72 Premier League appearances for Wolves, becoming only the second Wolves player after Raul Jimenez to reach 25 in the competition.
He has 11 goals from 23 league appearances this season and scored his side’s late second in today’s 2-0 home win against Aston Villa.
