Injuries on offense and issues on defense have rapidly turned this into a disappointing season for the Los Angeles Rams. Despite their struggles on both sides of the ball, they are still a touchdown favorite at home on Sunday against the Las Vegas Raiders.
That might seem like a big line for a 1-4 team, but when you consider everything going on with the Raiders right now, it definitely makes sense.
The Raiders finally traded wide receiver Davante Adams, were without Jakobi Meyers this past Sunday and decided to start Aidan O’Connell at quarterback. Even though they were already used to playing without Adams, the trade and the quarterback switch likely signal that they are ready to look toward the future.
The one thing that could play into the Raiders’ hands is that Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford has struggled to make plays in the absence of top wide receivers Puka Nacua and Cooper Kupp. The Raiders are allowing just 186.2 passing yards per game, the seventh-lowest number in the NFL. They also have a healthy Maxx Crosby back in the lineup against a Rams offensive line that has already allowed 16 sacks in five games.
The Rams are not only 1-4 overall this season, but they are also 1-4 against the spread. They have, however, had three of their games hit the over. The over/under for Sunday is 43.5 points. Only one of their games this season has failed to reach that total.
