Keane Lewis-Potter is close to agreeing a new long-term contract with Brentford.
Lewis-Potter joined Brentford from Hull City in July 2022 for a then club-record fee of £16million plus £4m in potential add-ons.
The winger’s first year with Brentford was disrupted by knee and foot injuries which limited him to playing 13 times in all competitions. He made 30 appearances, 15 as a substitute, in the top-flight last season and scored three goals.
The 23-year-old has become an integral part of Thomas Frank’s plans this season. Lewis-Potter has started 17 of their 19 games in the Premier League and registered more minutes than in any other campaign.
Lewis-Potter’s versatility has been crucial. Brentford have been grappling with an injury crisis which means he has performed a variety of different roles including at left-back.
The club’s senior figures have decided to reward him with a new and improved deal.
The long-term plan is for Lewis-Potter to primarily play as a forward when first-choice left-back Rico Henry recovers from an anterior cruciate ligament injury he suffered in September 2023.
Brentford, 12th in the Premier League, are next in action away at Southampton on Saturday.
