Fabio Carvalho completes transfer to Brentford from Liverpool

Brentford have completed the signing of Fabio Carvalho from Liverpool.

The Athletic reported that the west London club has reached an agreement with their Premier League counterparts for the signing of Carvalho in a deal potentially worth £27.5million (€32 million) including add-ons.

The 21-year-old has signed a five-year deal, with a one-year club option.

Carvalho was under contract at Anfield until June 2027 but the Merseyside club sanctioned his departure in an agreement that will see them a retain a 17.5 per cent sell-on clause.

Carvalho joined Liverpool from Fulham in 2022 for £5m, with Fulham set to receive 20 per cent of any profit from his transfer to Brentford.

Liverpool had also turned down a £15m offer, as The Athletic reported, from newly-promoted Southampton for Carvalho.

Carvalho spent the second half of last season on loan at Hull City, where he scored nine goals in 20 Championship appearances. He began the 2023-24 season on loan at RB Leipzig in Germany.

Despite making 21 appearances for Liverpool across all competitions, Carvalho has struggled to secure a regular first-team spot.

Brentford begin their 2024-25 Premier League campaign at home to Crystal Palace on August 18.
