Broncos starting linebacker Alex Singleton will miss the rest of the season after suffering a torn ACL in Sunday’s victory, coach Sean Payton announced Wednesday.
Singleton suffered the injury in the first quarter but remained on the field and played every defensive snap.
The team’s leading tackler reported soreness in the knee after Sunday’s game. He later had an MRI that showed the tear. He’ll have surgery in two weeks.
“It surprised all of us,” Payton said, noting that Singleton didn’t report any issues during the game.
The Broncos on Wednesday added two veteran linebackers to their practice squad, Kwon Alexander and Zach Cunningham. Both players practiced with the team during their workout at the Greenbrier Resort in West Virginia.
Singleton led the Broncos with 31 tackles through three games and also had an interception in Denver’s Week 1 loss at Seattle. He was also the team’s leading tackler in 2022 and 2023.
