Arsenal physio Jordan Reece to join Manchester United

Arsenal physio Jordan Reece is set to leave the club and join Manchester United.

Reece will join former Arsenal head of medical services Gary O’Driscoll in Manchester. O’Driscoll joined United last summer and was brought in to drive change and modernise the club’s medical department.

Reece will become United’s head physio, effectively replacing Robin Sadler who left the club in January. His start start date is yet to be decided and his appointment is said to not be a reaction to United’s injury woes last season but a sign of the crucial importance of having a strong medical department.

United are in the middle of an investigation into possible patterns behind their extensive injury issues after Erik ten Hag’s side had to contend with more than 60 individual cases of injury or illness throughout last season,

Ten Hag, who was rarely able to pick his best starting XI last campaign, compared managing the first team last season to “swimming with your hands tied behind your back”.

However, the 54-year-old did reveal in April that he “had an idea” of what was causing his side’s injury crisis and would “deal with it.”
