Andreas Georgson joins Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United coaching staff

Manchester United have appointed Lillestrom head coach Andreas Georgson as a new first-team coach.

The 42-year-old was appointed as the Norwegian club’s head coach in January and has previous experience of coaching in England on the staff of Brentford, Arsenal and Southampton — where he briefly worked under Jason Wilcox, who joined United earlier this year as a technical director.

Georgson’s arrival is a continuation of the changes on manager Erik ten Hag’s coaching staff this summer. Earlier this month, Ruud van Nistelrooy and Rene Hake joined the club as Mitchell van der Gaag and Benni McCarthy both departed.

Jelle ten Rouwelaar has also come on board as a goalkeeping coach at United, while first team coaches Steve McClaren and Darren Fletcher remain at the club and will work closely alongside Georgson.

The Norwegian was the caretaker manager of Malmo from July to September 2022, while he also served as a technical director at the Swedish club.
