Russian designer Gosha Rubchinskiy and the rapper formerly known as Kanye West, two of streetwearâs most influential and controversial figures, are parting ways after a âmemorableâ year-long collaboration âreached its conclusion,â Rubchinskiy said in a statement.
The designer, who oversaw menswear for Westâs Yeezy brand, is moving ahead with plans to relaunch his namesake label later this year.
The Gosha Rubchinskiy brand â which shot to success with a post-Soviet, skater-inflected concept backed by Comme des Garçons before shuttering in 2018 following misconduct allegations that tainted the designerâs public image â inked a deal with a new financial backer in 2023.
âAs I move forward, I continue to develop my creative vision, exploring new projects and evolving past ideas in ways that feel true to me,â Rubchinskiy said.
