Fit-out firm Structure Tone lands ex-ISG boss Blowers

A former chief executive of stricken firm ISG has joined fit-out specialist Structure Tone with immediate effect.

The London-based company announced yesterday evening (23 September) that Matt Blowers had joined as joint managing director.

Blowers was the chief executive of ISG from 2022 until February last year when he stood down and was replaced by Karen Booth.

Structure Tone said in its statement that Blowers will work with joint managing director Justin Fahy to “support the continued development”.

It added that a factor in the decision was his “longstanding industry relationships”.

Blowers spent 26 years at ISG, taking over from Paul Cossell in January 2022. His prior roles included chief operating officer at its global fit-out business. He also launched the company’s logistics and distribution division in 2018.

Fahy revealed discussions started earlier this year. He said: “Matt’s appointment has been several months in the making as part of our ambitions to further develop our strong and resilient business.

“It became clear from initial conversations in the early part of this year that Matt’s complementary skills could unlock new opportunities for our business. I am excited to see where this partnership will take us.”

Blowers will now co-lead a firm with 115 employees who specialise in fit-out and refurbishment.

He was not quoted in the statement.

Structure Tone reported turnover of £133.9m and pre-tax profit of £1.3m in its most recent accounts for the 2023 calendar year. The firm is a subsidiary of US-based STO Building Group.

Fahy added: “While today’s appointment brings exciting opportunities for the whole Structure Tone team, I want to assure our clients, partners and colleagues that in the meantime, it remains business as usual, and we remain steadfastly focused on delivering our current tenders, projects and initiatives.”
